Part 134: The Epic of Gilgaluf - Chapter 7
Okay, let's see if I can get back into the proverbial swing of things without another absurdly-long hiatus. The Epic of Gilgaluf - Chapter 7
Last time, we got to the portal to World 2, so off we go!
: ...Ow. Whose bright idea was this whole "cannon travel" idiocy, anyway?
I don't think trying to farm Tents solo would be a good idea, so let's just get on with things. I WILL be back someday, though. YOU HEAR ME PAO?! YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!
At least this time they have the excuse of being their default levels...
: I'm going to kick your ass, and you're going to help me do it.
Actually, it just stands there. I think its Confused script is just "stand there and do nothing."
I'm a little tempted to make a bad joke here, but toilet humor isn't really my thing. (Of course, that probably gives away exactly what joke I was tempted to make, which is almost as bad as actually making it, but...)
: Sup boss.
: ...God dammit, Enkidu...
: Huh. So he's my guard? This could get... interesting. Probably a little confusing, too.
Jumping off that dragon up there is all in a day's work for Gilgaluf. (Huh. Maybe THAT'S the reasoning behind Dragoons' Jump command- with a flying mount, you'd probably NEED to jump pretty high just to get on.)
: You will PAY for robbing my buddy!
This grating is the only thing protecting the guards on the other side from the wrath of Gilgaluf. (Incidentally, being the star of the run definitely makes this sequence easier on him than most solos.)
: ...This is gonna be awkward. Gilgamesh versus Gilgaluf? ...or is that the other way around? Eh, doesn't matter.
: Yeah, don't think about it too hard. I know I won't.
Vs. Gilgamesh (round 1). Wasn't expecting to get my newest weapon on the first roll... (Incidentally, this is a build that can actually use the Gaia Hammer effectively, if you ignore the fact that it shouldn't be possible due to Dragoons not being allowed to equip both Hammers and !Blue without cheats).
: HAMMER TIME!
Boss Deaths: 0
Total Boss Deaths: 4
Weapons Used On Boss: Gaia Hammer
Other Deaths: 6
Gilgamesh Deaths: 0
: Now that that's accomplished, let's go!
: Gotta say, things're a lot more stable when I'm not working solo. Anyway, let's see if I can find that spear...
What's with bears and polearms in this game? Anyway, this is another weapon whose sole source is stealing from a bear; this one, though, is the weakest Spear-type weapon in the game, and is thus only being stolen to troll myself with another "dud" result. (This IS, after all, a CHALLENGE run- there's not much challenge if I only use the good stuff, is there?)
To the bridge!
: You again? Still confusing.
: At least he doesn't have an Enkidu too. That'd just put it over the top.
: Hmmm... There's an idea.
Vs. Gilgamesh (round 2). Once again, getting my newest weapon immediately. This time that's much less of an advantage, though, since this thing's outdated by World 1 standards (and will thus be completely obsolete soon- right now it's only MOSTLY obsolete).
: Wrong spear! WRONG SPEAR!
:
Boss Deaths: 0
Total Boss Deaths: 4
Weapons Used On Boss: Spear
Other Deaths: 6
Gilgamesh Deaths: 0 (it was close, though- probably should've thought to use Magic Hammer early on, since this is exactly the kind of fight it exists for)
Why can nobody count? I'm only using two people!
: Force-field surfing time!
: What kind of idiot ARE you?!
: WHEEEEEE!
: ...If anyone asks, I don't know you.
: ...We need to work on the dismount...
: No we don't, because we are never doing that again if we can possibly avoid it.
Gaia Hammer procs are great for crowd thinning if you've got the Magic to power them and nothing flies. (Incidentally, I upgraded my "perma-dead" codes to "dead AND petrified" for the sake of convenience, since there are some enemies that revive your dead as zombies, one of which is here.)
Anyway, in Regole: New spells, just in case I decide to equip the commands. I now have Blink, Shell, Drain (kinda redundant with Vampire), Break, Bio, Comet, Slowga, and Return (possibly the most likely for me to use due to rare boss steals, if it weren't for the fact that I can only equip stealing OR !Time without breaking my Gilgaluf build, as I have defined it).
I also trade in some of my old gear for an Orichalcum Dirk, two Sleep Blades, a second Golden Shield, a Golden Helm, and a Wizard's Hat (I feel the extra Magic will benefit Enkidu more than the Green Beret's boosts at the moment, though I'll keep it in case I'm wrong). Moving up in the world! (Not 100% guaranteed, but my average is improving at least. And hey, I've got fewer obsolete items cluttering the randomizer now! :toot
Naturally, what little is left I spend on consumables. Part pack-rat habits, part "Mozart's legacy," I guess.
A quick stop at the Sealed Castle for a scene (and to challenge the Shield Dragon).
: Me... WANT...
: Dude, CHILL. They aren't going anywhere, and they're sealed at the moment so they're kinda useless right now. So stop with the caveman talk and let's GO.
Control plus Blaze spam equals dead dragon. (I hit it a couple times with the Ancient Sword since it's vulnerable to Old status, but Control worked before then. No big loss... and it turned out to give RIDICULOUS rewards, too- I mean, 5000 experience per character and 1000 Gil?!)
After a quick trip back to Regole for a nap, I start heading southeast. (My strategy on these guys? Death Claw and attack. Everything else gets Hammered and Punched.)
After getting lost again for a while, I finally find my way here, where I will be leaving off (in part because I don't want you to have to wait TOO long between updates again).
